Travel documents go far beyond the ordinary passport: most countries issue several types, each with its own holders, privileges and rules. A diplomatic passport is issued to official state representatives, a service passport to government employees on official duty, a special passport to defined groups such as members of parliament, while an emergency travel document is a temporary paper issued when a passport is lost abroad. Explore each type below — note that the rankings on this site measure the ordinary passport only.
