How to crop your photo
- Choose the country that issues your passport — the crop ratio locks to its official size automatically.
- Pick a photo from your device. It is read locally and never sent to a server.
- Drag the frame to centre your head, then drag a corner to resize. The rule-of-thirds grid helps you keep the face centred.
- Download the cropped photo. It is saved at or above the minimum resolution your country requires.
Why cropping matters
Most photo rejections come from the wrong proportions, not the wrong camera. A photo cropped to the official ratio keeps the head height and eye line where the authority expects them. Cropping to the correct ratio first also stops printers and online forms from stretching or trimming your photo unpredictably.
After cropping
Run the cropped file through our photo checker to review resolution, background, lighting, sharpness and face position against the same country's specification. The checker gives an indicative result — the issuing authority is the only body that can accept or reject a photo.
