About PassportGrade

PassportGrade is an independent passport intelligence platform that ranks all 197 passports of the world by their travel freedom. Our goal is simple: give travelers, researchers, and journalists a clear, up-to-date answer to one question — where can this passport take you?

Our methodology

Each passport receives a mobility score: the number of destinations its holders can enter either visa-free or with an eVisa, a visa on arrival, or an electronic travel authorization. Passports with equal scores share the same rank (score-tier methodology). Rankings may differ slightly from other indexes because every publisher uses a different data snapshot.

Our data

Visa requirements are sourced from the open Passport Index dataset and refreshed automatically every day, with our own verified corrections applied on top. This is a community-maintained dataset, not an official government feed. Country facts (capitals, population, area) come from open public datasets. Passport photo specifications and official eVisa portal links are checked individually against the issuing authority, and any country we could not verify is labelled as such on its page. Because visa policies change constantly, always confirm requirements with the official embassy or consulate before you travel.
