外交護照

外交護照

A diplomatic passport is issued to diplomats, consuls, heads of state and their accredited delegations when traveling on official state business. It is usually bound in black or dark red and clearly marked "Diplomatic Passport".

Who receives it?

Ambassadors and embassy staff, ministers and heads of state, official envoys, and often their spouses and dependents during a posting.

Privileges

Holders typically enjoy diplomatic immunity under the Vienna Convention, dedicated airport lanes, and broader visa-free access — many countries waive visas for diplomatic passports even where ordinary citizens need one. The privileges apply only while traveling on duty.

Important

A diplomatic passport does not belong to the holder personally: it must be returned when the assignment ends, and misuse for private travel can constitute a serious offense.
