緊急旅行證件

An emergency travel document (ETD) — sometimes called a laissez-passer or temporary passport — is issued by embassies and consulates to citizens whose passport was lost, stolen, damaged or expired abroad, allowing them to return home or complete an urgent trip.

When is it issued?

After reporting the loss to local police, the consulate verifies identity and issues the document, often within 24–72 hours, typically valid for a single journey and a few months at most.

Limitations

Many countries accept ETDs only for direct return to the home country; transit states may require a visa even where the ordinary passport would not. Airlines may request additional proof.

Important

Upon return, the holder must apply for a regular passport; the ETD is withdrawn and cannot be renewed.
